Famous people from various backgrounds have been asked to join The Academy from India.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences oversees the annual Oscars and has released the names of those who will be invited in 2022. 397 significant artists and executives received invitations from the Academy to join its organisation in 2022. The list includes 71 Oscar nominees—including 15 winners—out of the 397 artists. According to the official statement, membership is chosen based on professional skills and continued commitment to representation, inclusion, and equity.
Famous people from various backgrounds have been asked to join The Academy from India. Actors have been invited, including Kajol from My Name Is Khan and Suriya from Jai Bhim. Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas, nominated for an Oscar for their documentary Writing with Fire, have also been invited.
Reema Kagti, who has written for films like Gully Boy, Made in Heaven, and Dil Dhadakne Do, among others, has also been asked to join the prestigious organisation. Aditya Sood, an Indian-American producer who has worked on movies including The Martian and Deadpool, is also included on the list, along with PR and marketing expert Sohini Sengupta.
