Manoj Bajpayee portrays a lawyer in his most recent movie, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, who engages in a sensitive court case to defend the rights of a young woman. When questioned about the industry’s status during the project’s promotion, the actor responded that movies aren’t connecting any longer because those in the industry are searching for an instant solution to success. He believed that everything else would fall into place if the story and script had enough time to develop.
Following the releases of the movies Dial 100, Silence Can You Hear It? and Gulmohar, this is the actor’s most recent OTT project. In the last few years, he also starred in the Netflix anthology Ray and the Prime Video series The Family Man. The actor is renowned for only working on films he truly believes in, and most of them receive positive reviews.
In an interview with GOODTIMES, Manoj was questioned about how movies were not performing well, even on OTT. He clarified, “We keep wondering, why aren’t films working? But the reason is right within you. We keep trying to find a mantra for everything. We keep looking for the thing that will make us successful. It doesn’t work like that. Just be true to the job. It’s most important that we pay attention to the story. We must spend time on writing a good script. [There were] 18 drafts of Bandaa. It takes time. For Gulmohar, it took them three years. I find it surprising how [people keep churning stuff out].”
Manoj stated, “When you start churning [things], mediocrity will emerge. When you start looking for a formula for success, mediocrity will come. That means you are not being true to your creative self. You are trying to find that tablet, and you think you got that tablet. It never, and happens that way.”
The actor additionally has the movies Soup, Dispatch, and Joram scheduled for release this year. According to Manoj, the third instalment of The Family Man series is anticipated to start filming late this year.
