One of the most anticipated Bollywood movies is Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan and starred Aamir Khan in the title role and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The movie is already generating interest as its Raksha Bandhan release date of August 11, 2022, draws near. The film competes with Aanand L. Rai’s highly anticipated Raksha Bandhan, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar. In a meeting with the media earlier today, Aamir Khan spoke extensively about his film.
Aamir Khan was asked if he was concerned about the audience’s shifting attitudes and consumption habits, their exposure to OTT entertainment, and other factors as his movie neared its premiere on Thursday. The actor said, “Ya. I mean I am always concerned because my films always come after 4 years and trade changes in these 4 years. I don’t know what will happen when my next film releases. It happens with every film of mine, and I have to go through it. What has happened with OTT is that the taste of audience has improved. The audience has become much finer. They appreciate finer things. They are less forgiving. If your screenplay is weak, they move on to other content. I feel the audience has evolved with such good content in each language. These days, films come on OTT very fast. I have always tried to keep a 6 months gap, at least for my films.”
Aamir Khan also discussed the possible comparisons to the Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump. The actor claimed that every parallel was wholly appropriate. The audience enjoyed the songs and advertisements as well as the Laal Singh Chaddha movie’s trailer. When the film opens in theatres, it will be interesting to see what magic it can work.
