Whether choosing an intense female-centric drama for the silver screen or simply providing her support to a good cause, actress Rakul Preet Singh has been a champion of women’s empowerment. She is an empowered person who believes in sticking up for herself.
To promote the success of her most recent film, Doctor G, directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh spoke with the media.
Rakul responded that she has the blood of a soldier in her veins and isn’t afraid to take action to defend herself when asked about being direct with someone being disrespectful.
She said, “If someone steps out of line and says something which is not respectful or demeaning, I think I have caught that person and given him my piece of mind. I am from a military family. I don’t take nonsense from anyone. There is Fauji in me as well, which just springs into action”
Narrating an incident, Rakul added, “I remember I was in college, and we were going out on a trip. Someone was following us and taking pictures of me and my friends. I caught him, I held his collar and snatched his phone, I went total gangster on him. I always feel that you must stand up for yourself”
“If there are some people who are not behaving the right way, you stand up to them, only then will our society become a well-balanced society, because if you cannot respect women, who are responsible for bringing life on this planet, then I don’t think you’re even worth respecting your self” added Rakul.
Singh has many films on her upcoming schedule, including Indian 2, Ayalaan, Thank God, Chhatriwali, Mission Cinderella, 31 October Ladies Night, and others.
