Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who completed 25 years in the Hindi film industry on August 9, makes digital debut with this web series Heeramandi, set in Lahore of pre-independence India. It will stream on Netflix. Netflix India took to its social media to announce their collaboration with the Filmmaker.
Netflix India shared the first look of the web series, with the tagline, “Where Courtesans were Queens”. They captioned the post, “We are excited to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi IS COMING TO NETFLIX Words aren’t enough to explain how excited we are that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is partnering with us for this epic Netflix Original series, but these emojis come pretty close”.
The cast of the web series has not been revealed. Heeramandi is the red light area of Lahore, located inside the Walled City of Lahore. It has been the centre of the city’s tawaif culture since the 15th and 16th centuries.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project as director is Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
