Don’s first-weekend box office collections are the highest for Sivakarthikeyan in India, nearly 35 crores.

Don, starring Sivakarthikeyan, had a successful opening weekend in India, grossing approximately Rs. 34.50 crores in its three-day run. Siva’s first weekend (or three days) numbers are his most outstanding in his career, outperforming his previous release, Doctor (Rs. 24.20 crores). There have been a few other Siva starters that have grossed between Rs. 20-24 crores in their first three days, Don has surpassed them by about 50%. During the weekend, the film grossed around Rs. 28.50-29 crores in Tamil Nadu, surpassing Siva’s previous best of Rs. 22 crores set by Velaikkaran. On Sunday, the film surpassed the Rs. 10.75 crore barrier in the state, representing a 10% increase over Saturday. Don’s box office collections in India are as follows:

10 crores on Friday

11.50 crores on Saturday

13 crores on Sunday

Rs. 34.50 crores total

The weekend trend was robust, with collections increasing on the three days, which is unusual for huge openers in the South. Usually, a Rs. 10 crore opening day would result in a 30 crore weekend, but this picture grossed close to Rs. 35 crores over three days. The weekend statistics, and more crucially, the trend, have ensured that the film will be a SUPER HIT, possibly being a BLOCKBUSTER depending on how it does through the weekdays and second weekend. If Monday pre-sales are any indication, the latter is more plausible since collections are still robust on day four, with a possible Rs. 4 crores plus in Tamil Nadu on Monday. The following is a breakdown of Don’s Indian box office collections by territory:

Rs. 28.75 crores in Tamil Nadu

2.30 crores in AP/TS

2.60 crores in Karnataka

50 lakhs in Kerala

35 lakhs for the rest of India

Rs. 34.50 crores total
