Vidya Balan has long been a supporter of body positivity, and she encourages individuals of all shapes and sizes to feel confident in their own skin.
During ABP Network’s first ‘Ideas of India’ Summit event in Mumbai, Vidya spoke about her personal and professional life with journalist Vir Sanghavi.
When asked how she inhibited the role of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture, she revealed some of the unfamiliar secrets of her rehearsals. The ‘Ooh La La’ girl opened up about how conscious she was before shooting the film. She further explains how she always preps to fit into the other person’s shoes for a role. She said, eventually she started enjoying being the other person from dancing on ‘Ooh La La’ to imitating Silk.
Talking about the initial phase of her career at the Ideas of India Summit, she said, her first film was Malayalam; after completing the first schedule of which she returned to Mumbai, she got offers from 6-7 Malayalam films. The actress told, the story would have been told by calling her, it was said that when you would come, you would talk about things like costumes etc. but nothing was organized. Vidya Balan told, then the news came that the Malayalam film in which she was working has stopped. The actress told, directors Mohanlal and Kamal had done 8 films together, that (Vidya’s first movie) film was her 9th, now when the film was closed, someone had to be labelled… Vidya told, after that, which she was thrown out of 6-7 films too.
