Working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays Karikalan in the PS franchise, was an incredible experience, according to South Asian sensation Vikram.
At a press conference to promote PS-2 held in Mumbai, Vikram interacted with the media alongside the full ensemble cast.
When asked about Karikalan being in love with Nandini (Aishwarya) in the movie and his working experience with world beauty, Vikram said, “Working with Aishwarya was phenomenal. I loved it, and it was nice sharing screen space with her, that chemistry with her.”
“I love the unquilted love between Nandini (Aishwarya) and Aditha Karikalan (Vikram). I think it is a very different kind of love, I have romanced many people in many movies, so I have probably done one-sided love or mutual love. Still, for the first time, there is a love story where a person loves him so much that she could kill him. On the other side, a person loves her so much that he can die for her, so what happens next is fun to watch. Does he die because of her? Or lives? That is a beautiful thought. Even in the book, their love story is not finished. It’s just left there, so conjure up some image on our minds,” added Vikram.
The two-part epic drama was directed by Mani Ratnam, with A. R. Rahman providing the soundtrack. It followed the life of young Chola prince Arunmozhi Varman, who later rose to become the illustrious Rajaraja I.
It is the first of two motion pictures based on the 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy, produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, R. Parthiban, Rahman, Lal, and Vikram Prabhu are among the ensemble cast members.
The release date for the movie PS-2 is April 28, 2023.
