Vikrant Massey speaks about nepotism in Bollywood

Vikrant Massey is enjoying the success of his latest film, 12th Fail, receiving excellent reviews for his outstanding performance. The actor plays Manoj Kumar Sharma IPS, a real-life police officer, in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed film. In a recent interview, Vikrant discussed his thoughts on nepotism in the industry based on his personal experience.

Vikrant Massey stated in an interview with ANI that the industry is an institution based on merit. The actor said, “Even a shopkeeper in Chandni Chowk would not go out to search for someone to sit in the shop; he would ask his son only. So, it is in every field. I am not a trained actor. If you are someone’s son or daughter and you get ample opportunities, if you are not good at work, you will be immediately shown the door in this industry.”

Vikrat viewed the industry as challenging and mentioned that people believe this is a democratic community where everything is easy. He went on to say that although the industry is a robust and progressive community, it is not a family.

Vikrant further said, “It is a very competitive industry. There are thousands of actors who want to take my place. Do they wish well for me? Or am I irreplaceable? No. If I break my leg, someone else will come and take my place and start shooting in the next four days, and that is how competitive it is.”

An independent nomination for the movie 12th Fail has been submitted to the Oscars for 2024. Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, Rishabh Shetty, Kamal Haasan, and others have all admired the movie.

The story of Vikrant’s film 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, centres on UPSC candidates and is based on real-life events. Millions of students attempt the UPSC entrance exam, and the film depicts their difficulties.
