The psychological drama Qala tells the story of a young playback singer with the same name and is set in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The movie’s subject is the tale of Qala’s sad history and how it ultimately causes her to fall apart at the height of her hard-won prosperity. Her relationship with her mother marks both the start and the end of her spiral.
