Actor Siddharth of Rang De Basanti star claims that security guards at the Madurai airport recently harassed him and his parents. He claimed that even though they were instructed to speak in English, they continued talking to them in Hindi. He commented about his experience while posting a photo from the airport to his Instagram Stories. He continued by saying that when they protested against them, they said, “In India, this is how it is.”
Siddharth shared the image on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Harassed for 20 mins @ Madurai airport by CRPF. They made my senior parents remove coins from their bags! And repeatedly talked to us in Hindi after being told to speak in English.” Instead of tagging CISF, he accidentally did so for CRPF.
This year, Siddharth appeared in the web series Escaype Live on Disney+ Hotstar. It featured Jaaved Jaaferi and focused on the dark aspects of social media networking.
When Siddharth was booked in January for his tweet criticizing famous Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, the Hyderabad Police’s cybercrime unit stirred up some controversy. According to a senior police official, a complaint has been filed under IPC Section 509. Later, he apologized in front of the public, calling his remark a “rude joke” and acknowledging that he could not “justify my tone and words.”
Siddharth has participated in many Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films. He is well-known for his co-starring role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti with Aamir Khan. He will now appear in Indian 2, which stars Kamal Haasan. Sudeep, Nedumudi Venu, Gulshan Grover, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal are also featured in the movie.
