Actress Shamita Shetty recently discussed her early years in Bollywood after making her acting debut in Mohabbatein. Shamita’s career started when she won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Female) following the movie Mohabbatein. However, the actor only appeared in a few films after that. Shamita discussed it and expressed her desire to have had more work at the time in a recent interview. She also hopes for her upcoming movie, The Tenant, to impress the public.
Hamita Shetty is Shilpa Shetty’s younger sister. Her recent feature film was Cash, which came out in 2007. She will next be featured in Sushrut Jain’s The Tenant, playing the main character Meera, a single woman who moves to a new society and faces difficulties. The motion picture will debut on February 10.
Shamita talked openly about her industry struggles ahead of The Tenant’s release, which brings the actor’s absence from movies of more than 16 years to an end. She said to GoodTimes, “To start with the best and then to suddenly see this drop. I started with Yash Raj Films. The life that happened to me after that, or the work that came to me after that, was not as per my expectations. But then, having said that, when I debuted in Mohabbatein, I don’t think I realised how much I loved performing. I think that happened to me when I was shooting for Zeher. After that, P became more greedy for work. I wanted to discover more.”
Shamita stated, “Unfortunately, the industry wasn’t giving me more. So, as I said, things didn’t go exactly how I would have liked them to go. I then always had these long 2-3 years gaps or four years between my releases. And whenever I had a release, people would say, ‘oh, it’s your comeback’. Why come back again? But I wished that more work had come my way. I am hoping with The Tenant, the industry sees some glimpse of talent in me and decides to offer me some work that is good for me and that I feel is worthy of my talent.”
Shamita became extremely popular beyond movies after appearing in Bigg Boss season 15. She was eliminated during the final round and finished the competition as the third runner-up.
