Shahid Kapoor shared the first track, ‘Mehram’ from the upcoming Cricket film Jersey on Thursday. The soulful song shows the struggle of 36-year-old Shahid, who wishes to resume his career in cricket.
Shahid shared the film’s song Mehram on Twitter and captioned it, “#Mehram… the loving comforter. The heart of our film. Hope you feel the depth of its emotion. Presenting our first song from #Jersey. Releasing in theatres on 31st December 2021.”
The song starts with a voiceover that says youngsters should be given new opportunities, not 36-year-olds. We see Shahid’s desire to turn cricketer again for his son in the song. He is not excelling in the field and suffering in his married life. Amid all the ups and downs in his life, Shahid manages to push his limits, go for practice and more.
Mehram is Sung by Sachet Tandon and composed, arranged and produced by Sachet-Parampara. Shailender Singh Sodhi, popularly known as Shellee, wrote the lyrics.
Jersey is a heart-touching and emotional story of a cricketer named Arjun (Shahid Kapoor), who fails to achieve success in his career and fame in the field of cricket. However, he returns to cricket later to fulfill his son’s dreams and passion.
Jersey will release in theatres on December 31, 2021.
