One of Bollywood’s biggest actors is Shahid Kapoor. His most recent release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, has received excellent praise. Kriti Sanon also played a major role in this movie. Regarding his career, people have always assumed that he came from a family with renowned actors; therefore, they must have thought it was easy for him. However, the actor talked openly about his struggles in a recent interview.
Shahid Kapoor said in an interview with Neha Dhupia on her show No Filter Neha that although everyone considers him “Pankaj Kapur ka beta,” he believes that only superstars have significant influence and that character actors lack power. He said there would be no fun if someone struggled in a BMW and then started purchasing another one. He believed that to achieve success; one must have experienced through train travel and financial struggle.
Emphasizing the beginning of his career, he added, “When you start with Shaimak (Davar, choreographer), you have to be in the last line. So, forget being behind a star – you are also behind your contemporaries. You have to earn your right to be in the first row, to be more central as opposed to in the corner, and so it’s a lot of work, and I just love that.”
Speaking about his parent’s divorce, Shahid said he had developed pride in himself at the time and that he didn’t want to say to anyone about it. After signing his first movie, he told his father about it.
He went on to discuss how, despite their talent, outsiders in the industry do not usually get opportunities. He said, “I also came from outside, actually, because I came from Delhi to Bombay with my mom, and then I struggled. I didn’t have any channels. Talent is not being given an opportunity as much as it should, and I pride myself in the fact that I am here because of the work that I did and because of the actor that I learned to become, and whatever it is, I give to the craft.”
Regarding work, his movie Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which also starred Kriti Sanon, was just released and did rather well at the box office. He has recently started filming Deva, his upcoming release, and is fully prepared for it.
