The filmmakers released the much-anticipated teaser for Sam Bahadur today, October 13. The teaser, which lasts two minutes and 25 seconds, gives us a peek into the fascinating world of India’s first Field Marshal. Vicky Kaushal portrays Sam Manekshaw in his behaviour and eyes, making him appear unrecognizable. We also see Sanya Malhotra, who plays Indira Gandhi’s wife, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, who portrays the then-prime minister. As Sam headed the Indian Army in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, there were multiple scenes of outright war.
Meghna Gulzar and Bhavani Iyer wrote and directed the film Sam Bahadur. Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra, Neeraj Kabi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and other actors appear in the movie, which Ronnie Screwvala produces under the banner of RSVP Movies. Following their critically acclaimed and financially successful 2018 film Raazi, this is Vicky and Meghna’s second collaboration. On December 1, Sam Bahadur will be released alongside the Ranbir Kapoor-starring film Animal in theatres.
Sam Manekshaw served as the chief of staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and was the first Indian to be given the title of field marshal.
