Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is one of the wealthiest performers in the world. Still, our adored star didn’t have enough money to furnish his historic Mannat home, so his wife, Gauri Khan, had to become a designer to decorate it, setting the stage for her future career as a designer.
While publishing Gauri Khan’s book My Life in Design, Shah Rukh Khan engaged with the media.
Sharing an interesting story about their house Mannat and how Gauri Khan entered the world of designing, Shahrukh said, “When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means, and once we were done buying the house, we didn’t have money to decorate it. We even once hired a designer, only to realize he couldn’t afford him.”
“So, I turned to Gauri, as she had little artistic talent, so I asked her to be the designer for our house. So actually, Mannat started like that, and over time, we earned and kept buying little stuff for the house. We even went to South Africa to buy leathers for the sofa, and I think that training ground got her into designing,” added Shahrukh Khan.
Gauri Khan’s book My Life in Design details her career as a designer and includes only images of her and her family, including Shah Rukh, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. The book also includes never-before-seen photos of Mannat, her home in Mumbai, the design procedures that went into them, and other significant projects.
Shahrukh Khan is now completing the films Jawan with Atlee Kumar and Dunki with Rajkumar Hirani and will briefly appear in Tiger 3.
