“OTT Has United Our Nation”, Says Guneet Monga

Oscar winner producer Guneet Monga believes that OTT has united our nation, India, and the kind of expanse content is getting, even the international borders are disappearing.

Award-winning producer Guneet Monga interacted with the media on the sidelines of Yuvaa’s 5th-anniversary celebration in Mumbai.

Guneet Monga has been an undisputed champion of producing quality content, especially digitally. So we asked what OTT’s benefits are, and she said, “I think the OTT has united our nation. Now we can watch Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam content, Hindi content is going global, and we talk about Netflix particularly. It has a presence in 190 countries and 230 million viewers globally. My release, Elephant Whisperer, got so much love across the globe that we won an Oscar. Now our next release, Kathal, has been released. The entire world is watching it.”

“If we talk about expanse, we talk to the world with our content. That is super special. So as a country, we have come together, and as a world, the borders are disappearing, perhaps a little,” added Guneet.

Guneet won an Oscar for her docu-drama The Elephant Whisperers under her home-banner Shikya Entertainment. Next, she plans to win an Oscar for a feature film.

Talking about her future projects, Guneet said, “A documentary on Honey Singh, a series on ZEE5 titled Gyraah Gyraah, the production company, Sikhya is doing a lot of work, but if I talk about myself, I am exhausted, I want to take a break, dream new dreams, achieve new milestones, and win an Oscar for the feature film.”

When asked about interacting with young digital creators at Yuvaa 5, she added, “I am not here to teach. I am here to learn. Even though my production name is Sikhya Entertainment, I want to learn what the youngsters are saying or what they want to listen to. Every decade, we find a new set of problems, their solutions, and that is how we think progressively.”

“When I was 21, I came here to become the producer, and people thought she was young. What the hell she knows? But the truth is, young people know everything, and I stand here as an example. So, I have come here to learn and be inspired myself,” added Monga.

Guneet also served as an executive producer on Period. End of Sentence. Which won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film.
