Maddock Films Hails Amendment In Cinematography Bill

The world’s largest production company, Maddock Films of Dinesh Vijan, applauds the Union Cabinet’s endorsement of the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, which calls for adding more categories for film certification and tougher penalties to combat film piracy.

The Bill’s goals are to protect producers’ and filmmakers’ interests and investments while ensuring that piracy does not impact content.

The Bill includes provisions to stop websites from disseminating pirated versions of films and calls for jail time, a fine, and the criminalization of camcording.

“Kudos to the Cabinet’s approval in the amendment of the Cinematographer Act, 1952 age-based certification and anti-piracy measures are brilliant steps towards ensuring better business at the movies,” Maddock Films, which shared the bill on Twitter, wrote. We at Maddock Flicks applaud this amazing move!”

Under the proposed amendments pertaining to the certification of films under the ‘unrestricted public exhibition’, the Bill has introduced new film certification categories, including ‘U’ or universal, ‘U/A 7+’, ‘U/A 13+’, and ‘U/A 16+’, besides an ‘A’ rating for content restricted for viewing by only adults.

Happy Teacher’s Day, starring Radhika Madan and Nimrat Kaur, Zara Hatke Zara Bach Ke, Tehran, starring John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar, Section 36, starring Deepak Dobriyal, Vikrant Massey; and an untitled romantic drama starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are just a few of the upcoming films from Maddock Films.
