Karan Johar welcomed Mike Tyson to the film Liger, the upcoming action film starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in the lead role. Liger is a pan-India project, which Karan Johar jointly produces with Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, and Apoorva Mehta.
Karan Johar shared the news of Mike’s entry to the team by posting a promo video on his Twitter handle. Along with the video, he wrote, “For the first time ever, the king of the ring will be seen on the big screens of Indian cinema! Welcoming @MikeTyson to the #LIGER team! #NamasteTyson”.
As per the promo video, it appears Tyson will face off with Deverakonda’s character in the boxing ring. While details of his role have not yet been revealed. Mike Tyson was a professional boxer, competed from 1985 to 2005. He became the youngest ever heavyweight champion in boxing history in 1986 at the age of 20.
Currently, team Liger is shooting in Goa, where some high-octane action sequences are reportedly being shot. A teaser for the film was released in May. The film was slated to get a worldwide theatrical release on September 9 in five languages – Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. But, it was also postponed due to the rising COVID-19 cases at that time.
The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh and will feature Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Vishu Reddy.
