The actor Emraan Hashmi claimed that when his son Ayaan Hashmi was fighting cancer a few years ago, Akshay Kumar called him first. At the Selfie trailer premiere in Mumbai on Sunday, Emraan even referred to Akshay Kumar as an “angel” who supported him during a difficult time.
In December 2006, Emraan wedded Parveen Shahani. Ayaan was welcomed in February 2010. Ayaan was diagnosed with cancer. In January 2019, Ayaan’s cancer was cured. As per Indian Express, Emraan discussed Akshay, “I’ve followed him as a fan. I’ve adored him. I’ve gotten the privilege of knowing him in the past few years. He was there for me when my son had a health issue. He was the first one to call and stand by me, stand by family, our family. I didn’t know him well back then. Many people surround you in your good times, but bure waqt mein jo farishtey aate hai, that’s Akshay.”
Speaking of films with multiple stars, Emraan added, “For me, only the content is important. It doesn’t matter if it’s a solo hero, two heroes or three heroes film. I don’t know why there aren’t too many multi-starrers being made. They are being made, but more films should be made because they’ve been successful if you look at the trend of the past two years and since the dawn of cinema.”
Akshay and Emraan will appear on television for the first time in Raj Mehta’s Selfiee. The film also features Diana Penty and Nushraatt Bharuccha. The three-minute teaser featured Emraan as an RTO officer who wants a photo alongside his favourite star Vijay (portrayed by Akshay).
The movie Selfiee is the original Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam movie Driving License. The project is Funded by Akshay’s Cape of Good Films, Dharma Productions, Magic Frames and Sukumaran’s Prithviraj Productions. On February 24, Selfiee will have its theatrical debut. The movie starred Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prithviraj in the essential roles.
