Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur are ready to unite for a romantic comedy, Jab Khuli Kitaab. Actor-filmmaker Saurabh Shukla directs it, and it is a stage-to-screen adaptation of Shukla’s play of the same name. The film also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Samir Soni and Nauheed Cyrusi. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with producer Naren Kumar’s Shoe Strap Films.
The official Twitter page of Applause Entertainment shared the film’s first look and wrote, “Young Love Knows No Age! Applause Entertainment presents the legendary Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia in JAB KHULI KITAAB, written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, in association with Shoe Strap Films. Aparshakti Khurana also joins this iconic duo in a pivotal role.”
They further added, “Samir Soni, Nauheed Cyrusi and others form the rest of this stellar ensemble. This charming romantic dramedy asks the question – What do love, passion and heartbreak have to do with age?”
Jab Khuli Kitaab is a love story of an older couple heading for a divorce after 50 years of marriage. It deals with the dysfunctionality of relationships and its impact on family, with dollops of humor and heart.
As per the report in the ANI, speaking about the film, director Shukla said, “Jab Khuli Kitaab is very close to his heart. He added that he’s thrilled to have stalwarts like Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia as the leads. “We all say that one should be transparent and clean in any relationship, but how many of us are open to facing the truth in our own relationships?”
“The film is a rom-com with a couple in their 70s, and you see them doing what any teenager will do in their relationships. The film is a joyride where you laugh, fall in love and cry with this unique couple,” he added.
Set in Uttarakhand, Jab Khuli Kitaab recently wrapped its start-to-finish schedule in Ranikhet.
