Actor Dinesh Phadnis, who gained popularity as Fredericks in the highly-watched television series CID, passed away on Tuesday at 57. The news of his passing was confirmed to The Indian Express by Dayanand Shetty, his co-actor on CID, who portrayed Daya in the show. He stated, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.”
The 57-year-old star was undergoing treatment at Tunga Hospital in Mumbai. Shetty revealed that multiple organ failure was the cause of Dinesh’s death. He stated, “There were a lot of complications, and he was removed from the ventilator last night.”
The actor’s funeral will be held at 10.30 am in Mumbai. According to reports, the whole cast of CID paid their last respects at Dinesh’s residence.
It was previously reported that Dinesh was hospitalized after suffering a cardiac arrest on Sunday. Later, Shetty clarified that liver damage instead of cardiac arrest was the cause.
After starring as Fredericks in the famous TV series CID, which debuted in 1998 and ran for 20 years on Sony TV, Dinesh gained wide popularity. In addition, he appeared in supporting parts in films like Sarfarosh and Super 30 and on the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
