Ajay Devgn has started shooting for his upcoming film Drishyam 2 in Mumbai, directed by Abhishek Pathak. The film is the sequel to the 2015 thriller Drishyam, and Ajay will be reprising the role of Vijay Salgaonkar continue in the sequel.
Ajay shared a picture on Twitter, where the director Abhishek Pathak is instructing Ajay, and Shriya Saran watches on. He captioned it, “Can Vijay protect his family again? Drishyam 2 shoot begins.”
Prequel Drishyam was an emotional thriller, the story of a cable operator Vijay Salgaonkar. His life revolves around cinema, his wife Nandini (Shriya Saran), and daughters Anju and Anu. The film’s franchise featured much of the same cast but was directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. He died in 2020, at the age of 50.
Both Drishyam and Drishyam 2 are a remake of Malayalam films of the same name, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. The original Malayalam films have been written and directed by Jeethu Joseph.
As per the ANI report, speaking about Drishyam 2, Ajay said, “Drishyam was loved, and it’s a legend. I am now elated to present yet another interesting story with Drishyam 2. Vijay is a multidimensional character, and he creates an engaging narrative onscreen. Abhishek Pathak (director) has a fresh vision for this film. I’m keenly looking forward to part 2, filling in the large shoes of the earlier film with people investing in the mystery and the characters.”
