Actress Aishwarya Rajesh recently discussed Rashmika Mandanna’s Srivalli role from Pushpa: The Rise (2021), which she played in the Tamil coming-of-age movie Farhana. She has explained that she never intended to imply that she would perform better than Rashmika in the role and only mentioned that such a role would suit her.
She said in a note that her words had been misunderstood and that she had nothing but the utmost admiration for Rashmika’s abilities. The statement was shared on Twitter by Aishwarya’s publicist.
She begins the message by thanking the audience for their enduring support of her work throughout the years. She added, “Talking about work, I was asked in a recent interview about the roles I want to do in Telugu cinema. I replied that I like the Telugu film industry and would certainly do Telugu films if I got roles I liked. To cite an example, I said I liked the character of Srivalli in Pushpa much as I felt such characters would suit me.”
Aishwariya further stated, “However, unfortunately, my statement seems to have been misconstrued and is being reported in such a fashion to give the impression that I was disparaging the fantastic work of actress Rashmika Mandanna in the film. I wish to clear the confusion that seems to have ensued and clarify that I have nothing but profound admiration for Rashmika’s work in the film and that I have immense respect for all my fellow actors and actresses.”
