In the upcoming film Gulmohar, versatile actor Manoj Bajpayee will appear with veteran Sharmila Tagore. He believes it is an honour to work with such a renowned actress.
At the special screening of Gulmohar in Mumbai, Manoj Bajpayee was speaking with the press.
When asked about the film and working with Sharmila Tagore in her comeback movie, Manoj said, “Back in the days, Indian families were tight, and the world talked about the love and connection between Indian family members, but now, combined families are turning into nuclear families, and everyone is just lost in their corner within the house itself, and this film is based on that idea.”
“Sharmila Tagore is playing my mother in the film. She is making a comeback with this film, and working with her was a pleasant experience and a matter of pride,” added Manoj.
Manoj continued by saying that Gulmohar is a film that transcends the concept of good or evil and tells the tale of everyone living in the modern world.
He said, “As an actor, we do a lot of movies. Some are good, some are super good, and some are not so good, but Gulmohar is one such film. We felt proud after making it because the film talks about the importance of family, the kind of family which is disappearing from our society. The film is about a family’s downfall so that the audience will cry and laugh, and more importantly, relate with it as this is everyone’s story.”
The movie is directed by Rahul V. Chittella and features Sharmila Tagore, Manoj Bajpayee, Suraj Sharma, Simran, Amol Palekar, and others. Arpita Mukherjee and Chittella wrote it. On March 3, it will make its Disney+ Hotstar debut.
