The first song from the upcoming Adipurush album, Jai Shri Ram, is credited to supernatural intervention by the composition team Ajay-Atul.
The film’s creators introduced Adipurush’s first single, Jai Shri Ram, at a glamorous ceremony in Mumbai. Filmmaker Om Raut, Bhushan Kumar, Anil Thadani, Devdatta Nage, and composer team Ajay-Atul attended the song launch.
Talking about the song, Atul Ashok Gogavle of the Ajay-Atul duo said, “We have done a lot of songs, trust me we usually take credit for the song, but when it comes to Jai Shri Ram song, I don’t think we can take the credit of making this song, this is divine intervention, it’s like someone just whispered it in our ears. This song came with a lot of responsibility. If you all remember the Ramayan serial, we would automatically connect with it the moment its title song starts. We wanted to make that sort of song which would connect with an audience, and we have attempted the song with a lot of purity.”
Filmmaker Om Raut also shared an anecdote about the song. He narrated an incident. He said, “I have been friends with Ajay-Atul for the longest, and the first time I collaborated with the duo was for Maay Bhavani song in Tanhaji, and every time you visit Ajay-Atul’s studio, there is this decorum, where I go in the studio, sit down for a little while and then we talk about work, and then they will take you to their studio where they create a song, so this a process for all the time. Even if you need to listen for five minutes, you must take at least an hour extra to listen to the song because of their routine.”
“Whenever I asked them about their feedback on any song, Ajay would always say, you listen to it first, but when it came to Jai Shri Ram song, I went through the whole routine, but this time Ajay told me this song is mast, for the first time in his life, he gave me feedback.”
The epic Ramayana is the inspiration for Adipurush. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, Vatsal Sheth, and Devdatta Nage are featured in the movie.
After having its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, the movie is slated for a 16 June 2023 theatrical release.
