Rio Kapadia, a veteran actor, passed away at 66. The actor most known for his work in Chak De India, Dil Chahta Hai, and Mardaani passed away on September 14. His friend Faisal Malik confirmed to India Today that he had passed away. His children Aman, Veer, and his wife Maria Farah survive him.
Rio Kapadia’s cremation will take place at Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhumi in Goregaon on September 15. On social media, many people can be seen paying tribute to Rio.
The late actor appeared on television in films and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. He portrayed King Subala of Gandhara, the father of Gandhari, in Siddharth Tewary’s Mahabharat.
Rio had spoken about the rights of actors in the television industry and asked other actors to support one another. When another actor replaced him for a significant role in a show in 2012, he raised awareness of the struggles that actors face in the industry.
He last appeared in an episode of the second season of the Prime Video series Made in Heaven.
