The Sridevi-starring film English-Vinglish will premiere in China on THIS day

The iconic actress Sridevi’s death anniversary is this year on February 24. The acclaimed female diva of Indian cinema passed away on February 24, 2018, in Dubai, shocking her family, countless fans, and the whole industry. At the time of her passing, Sridevi was very active in her career and had a promising line-up of films. Sridevi made a brilliant comeback to the film business in 2012 with the critically praised film English Vinglish.

For Sridevi’s admirers and cine-goers, this year’s anniversary of her death will be a special occasion because English Vinglish, her critically praised film, will finally be released in China on the same day. On the fifth anniversary of her passing, the Gauri Shinde-directed film, which marked the renowned actress’s comeback to the big screen after a 15-year absence, will be shown on more than 6000 screens around China. Fans of Sridevi and movie enthusiasts are both thrilled and emotional by the latest update.

In a recent formal statement, Kumar Ahuja, the COO of Eros International, verified the reports. Which states, “Indian films have gradually gained a foothold in the competitive Chinese movie market, the second biggest in the world. We have seen a rising demand for Indian films in China Mainland, especially those that are culturally driven. We are excited for the audience in China to marvel at this masterpiece showcasing one of the most memorable performances by the late Bollywood superstar Sridevi.”

In the slice-of-life drama, Shashi Godbole, a simple Maharashtrian woman, is regularly made fun of by her family for not speaking English fluently. As always, Sridevi gives a terrific performance as the innocent, nervous Shashi who, after visiting New York, finally discovers her strength in life. In the Hindi adaptation of the movie, Amitabh Bachchan performed a cameo appearance; in the Tamil version, Ajith Kumar took his place. In the film, supporting roles were played by Mehdi Nabbou, Adil Hussain, Sumeet Vyas,  Navika Kotia, Priya Anand and others.
