Taapsee Pannu unveiled the poster of cricketer Mithali Raj’s biopic, Shabaash Mithu, on the occasion of Mithali’s birthday. She also announced that the film would hit the screens worldwide on February 4, 2022. The film tells how a legendary cricketer broke stereotypes and made India proud.
Taapsee shared the news on Twitter. She posted a new poster along with the film’s release date and captioned it, “ONE GIRL with HER CRICKET BAT has shattered world records and stereotypes. You’ve done it all Champ Happy Birthday Mithu @mithaliraj #ShabaashMithu in theatres on 4|02|2022.”
Mithali Raj, a former cricketer, led the Indian Women’s Cricket team in two World Cups in 2005 and 2017. In 2019, she announced her retirement from cricket after completing 20 years in the game.
Recently, Taapsee announced the wrap of the film Shabaash Mithu on Twitter. She shared a picture of women cricketers standing on the balcony. She captioned the pic, “8 ki thi jab kisi ne ek Sapna dikhaya tha, ki ek din ayega jab Cricket sirf gentleman’s game nahi hoga. Humaari bhi ek team hogi, ek pehchaan hogi.. ‘Women in Blue’ Aa rahe hai hum. Jald hi.#ShabaashMithu ITS A FILM WRAP! Get ready to cheer for the World Cup 2022! #WomenInBlue”
