“Support Afwaah And Make Your Voice Stronger”, Says Anurag Kashyap

After supporting Sudhir Mishra’s directorial Afwaah earlier through his social media post, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap again took to his profile. He urged everyone to watch the Bhumi Pednekar and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer, which discusses the misuse of social media to create hate and unrest.

Sudhir Mishra’s directorial Afwaah, backed by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar, stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas.

The film discusses using social media to create fake news and spread hatred and civil unrest.

Anurag Kashyap took to his social media profile and shared, “You agree with the film or not, be it propaganda, counter-propaganda, offensive or not, to ban it is just wrong. You want to fight propaganda. Then go in numbers and see the film that talks against the misuse of social media and how inherent prejudice is weaponised to create hatred and unrest. It’s running in cinemas and is called “Afwaah”. Go make your voice stronger. Go make a point. That’s the right way to fight.”

In his earlier post, Anurag Kashyap praised the film and dedicated his next venture, Kennedy, to filmmaker Sudhir Mishra.

He wrote, “The original maverick of Hindi cinema, the man I dedicate my next film to @iamsudhirmishra, has made a banger of a film. It touches upon everything wrong with us today, where social media has brought us. The lies we put out, how it affects all of us and can’t be taken back, the world has to breathe in and deal with the consequences. Being a good person and the good person’s silence is not a virtue anymore. Armed with brilliant performances, Afwaah” has been released today in cinemas and is an unmissable film. @anubhavsinhaa @bhumipednekar @sumeetvyas @nawazuddin._siddiqui @mrfilmistaani @tjbhanu @eishachopra Very well done. Congratulations”

Anurag Kashyap’s next Kennedy stars Rahul Bhat, Megha Burman and Sunny Leone. It centres on an insomniac former police officer who wanders through various situations yearning for forgiveness. The long-presumed deceased former police officer now works covertly for the unjust system.
