For the Deol brothers, 2023 has been a rather good year. Bobby Deol is receiving praise for his portrayal in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 was a huge hit. Actor Sunny Deol, Bobby’s brother, has since seen the movie and shares his views.
In an interview with the news agency PTI, Sunny appreciated Animal but also mentioned a few things he did not like. He stated, “I am genuinely happy for Bobby. I have watched Animal, and I liked it, it’s a nice film. There are certain things that I did not like, which I don’t like in many films, including my own films. But that’s as a person, I have the right to like or not like, but in totality, it is a nice film. The music is perfect and goes hand in hand with the sequences. Bobby has always been Bobby, but now he is Lord Bobby.”
With a worldwide box office gross of over ₹700 crore, Animal has become a blockbuster. However, some have criticized the film for its depictions of violence, misogynistic characters, and promotion of toxic masculinity. It’s unclear if Sunny found these movie scenes objectionable as well.
The antagonist in Animal, Bobby Deol, stated he saw his role as someone who had experienced trauma as a child rather than as a villain. The actor is getting appreciation for his brief cameo as the scary mute gangster Abrar Haque in the Ranbir Kapoor-starring movie.
