Randeep Hooda’s trailer for the upcoming film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has been released. In a biopic he directs for the first time, he plays the part of the freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The voice-over at the start of the trailer tells viewers that this is not a movie about India gaining independence from the British, only via non-violence.
An officer calls Swatantrya Veer Savarkar one of the “most dangerous men” he has ever met in the beginning scene of the video. This is because he convinced the British commander that he was at fault during one discussion. He is seen unionizing people and encouraging them to join the movement as a passionate voice for the country.
Ankita Lokhande, who plays his wife, appears briefly in the trailer and warns Saavarkar that crossing the river and going the opposite way could bring misfortune to them. After that, the video takes viewers to the era of his life during which he was imprisoned. A two-life sentence to jail has been given out for the first time. He responds, “God bestowed me with one life, but the judge gave me two.”
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is a film directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda and Utkarsh Naithani. Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, Randeep Hooda Films, Legend Studios, and Avak Films support it.
