Ahead of the release of late actor Rishi Kapoor’s upcoming film Sharmaji Namkeen, some Bollywood stars paid a special tribute to the iconic star by recreating his hit song ‘Om Shanti Om’. The film will start streaming on March 31 on Amazon Prime India.
Taking to Twitter, Amazon prime India shared the tribute video and captioned it, “people might not, but their legacy stays forever, A tribute to the legendary Mr. Rishi Kapoor Sir, celebrating his scrumptious era that curtains with a story very special #SharmajiNamkeenOnPrime March 31. “
In the video, Bollywood stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Pandey, Aadar Jain and Tara Sutaria sported attire inspired by Rishi Kapoor’s disco look in his iconic song, Om Shanti Om from blockbuster film Karz. The tribute video ended with the perfectly-suited phrase, “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.”
Sharmaji Namkeen, for the first time in Hindi cinema, legendary actors late Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal play the same character. Rishi passed away on April 30, 2020. After his demise, the film’s producers got in Paresh Rawal to fill in Rishi Kapoor’s Shoes and complete the remaining shoot. The film also stars Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha and Isha Talwar.
Directed by Hitesh Bhatia and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment in association with Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of MacGuffin Pictures.
