Fans are most eager to watch Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling collaborate on a romantic comedy that will focus on South Asian culture and a big, fat Indian wedding, with Kaling and Chopra playing relatives, among other projects that the actress has in the works. In a recent interview with Forbes, Mindy shared information regarding the same.
In an interview with Forbes, Kaling discussed the significance of South Asian representation and how she investigates it in her projects. She also provided specifics on how her future film starring Chopra, will address the topic. She stated: “We display South Asian Americans of Southern Indian origin because we are proud of it. Next, a Muslim Indian girl is displayed. We can notice how they differ from one another culturally. The culture of Asia is not uniform. If no shows investigate and explain this disparity, why would people necessarily know that?”
She continued by describing the parts that she and Priyanka will play in their next movie “I’m an Indian American Bengali girl from the East Coast, and Priyanka Chopra is a Punjabi Indian from India in the movie we’re in together. Because of how different it is, our relationship together is delightful.”
In a previous interview with 2020, Mindy explained how her experience working with Chopra had transformed how she felt about India and gave her a new perspective on the country. For the South Asian portrayal in her high-school adolescent drama, Never Have I Ever, which will soon debut its third season on Netflix, Kaling has already garnered acclaim.
