Nikhil Dwivedi has announced a biopic on legendary star Rajesh Khanna on his 79th birth anniversary on Tuesday. The film will be based on the book ‘Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being Rajesh Khanna,’ written by Gautam Chintamani. Nikhil has acquired the right to turn the book into a biopic.
Superstar Rajesh Khanna spent the last few years in loneliness, and the same was mentioned in his biography, Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being Rajesh Khanna. Actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi plans to make a biopic based on the book, and he is reportedly collaborating with Farah Khan to direct the film.
As per a report in the ANI, talking about the project, Nikhil said, “Yes, I’ve acquired the rights to Gautam Chintamani’s book, Dark Star, and I’m in talks with Farah Khan to make the film. That’s all I can say for now. As and when any major development happens, I’ll be happy to share because I’m really very excited about bringing Rajesh Khanna’s story to the big screen.”
Farah Khan, who may direct the film, said, “Yes, I have read Gautam’s book and it’s very fascinating. We are in conversation over this, but I cannot comment more.”
Rajesh Khanna, the first Superstar of Bollywood, made his debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat. He consecutively starred in a record of 15 successful films between 1969 to 1971. Rajesh Khanna tied a knot with Dimple Kapadia in March 1973. He passed away in 2012 after a period of illness. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor.
