National Award-Winning Actress ‘Surekha Sikri’ Passes Away Due To Cardiac Arrest.

Veteran actress Surekha Sikri died at the age of 75. The actress suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this morning. She had suffered a brain stroke in 2020 and a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018. she has won three national awards for her roles in the films “Tamas”, “Mammo”, and “Badhaai Ho”, last seen in Netflix’s anthology Ghost Stories, in the segment directed by Zoya Akhtar.

On Friday morning, the late actress’ agent shared a statement to the PTI news agency that Surekha Sikri died of cardiac arrest – she was battling health issues following a second brain stroke and suffering from complications.

Surekha Sikri made her debut in the 1978 political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka. In Bollywood, she featured in small but significant roles in critically acclaimed films such as Zubeidaa, Mr and Mrs Iyer and Raincoat. In TV, featured in shows such as Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil, Maa Exchange, Saat Phere. She was best known for her portrayal of the strict daadi in the TV show Balika Vadhu.
