Akshay Kumar is back with the teaser for his upcoming movie just one month after his previous film, OMG 2, a box office hit. In Mission Raniganj, a rescue drama set to hit theatres on October 6, he will play renowned mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill. The teaser, which the makers released on Thursday evening, gives us an idea of the challenges Jaswant faced during the mission.
The teaser reveals that the true story takes place in 1989 in the Raniganj Coalfields when 65 men become trapped in a mine due to an unforeseen downpour. Before mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill intervenes and promises to rescue them, they are largely assumed to be dead, even if one of the 65 miners is still alive.
In 1989, 65 miners became trapped in a mine due to an unanticipated downpour in the Raniganj Coalfields, as depicted in the teaser. Before mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill intervened, most people believed them dead. He then promises to rescue them regardless of whether any of the 65 miners are still alive.
Akshay posted the teaser on Instagram on Thursday evening. He penned the caption, “In 1989, one man showed courage and conviction that saved lives! #MissionRaniganjTeaser is out now. Watch the story of Bharat’s true hero with #MissionRaniganj in cinemas on October 6.”
Akshay can be seen sporting a turban, glasses, and basic cotton shirts and T-shirts. Four years after Anurag Singh’s Kesari, a 2019 war movie, he is portraying a Sikh role. In that movie, Ishar Singh, a havildar in the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army, led 21 Jat Sikhs in the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897 against an invasion by 10,000 invaders. Intriguingly, Parineeti Chopra, who co-starred with Akshay in the film Kesari, is also a part of Mission Raniganj; in the trailer, she can be seen wearing white clothing, her hair tied back and sporting an expression of concern.
In Anees Bazmee’s 2008 action comedy Singh Is Kinng, Akshay debuted as a Sikh character. He was praised for portraying the Sikh community and his turbaned appearance.
Tinu Suresh Desai, the director of Akshay’s Rustom, is in charge of Mission Raniganj. Along with them, it also features Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Pavan Malhotra, Kumud Mishra, and Ravi Kishan.
