The 16-time world champion was last seen battling Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2021, but he has been busy with his Hollywood career. Cena also expressed his gratitude to his supporters in the promo.
The live event on Monday night featured no matches for the 16-time world champion, but he still had a very sentimental message for his supporters who have been with him for the entirety of his 20-year career. Addressing the crowd, Cena said, “For 20 years, you have created an environment for me to be my true self. You’ve also been brave enough to tell me when I suck, and you’ve also been kind enough to tell me when I don’t.”
The legend concluded his speech by saying, “We never give up. We’re just getting started.” In his advertisement, Cena also stated that it won’t be for a single match when he returns to the ring. Fans are eager to find out who the superstar will face up against in his first fight after making a comeback. However, some internet users speculated that it would be United States Champion Theory considering their altercation backstage during the programme honouring the 20th anniversary.
