She discusses how her popular video got her involved in the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial.
In response to the lawsuit involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, internet users dug out various previous films about the couple, one of which went viral and purportedly showed Dakota Johnson seeing Johnny Depp’s severed finger. While the trial was being live-streamed, the clip became the talk of the town, and Johnson addressed it in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor said in court that Heard, his ex-wife, cut off the tip of his finger with a vodka bottle during an argument in 2015. This testimony brought up Depp’s finger injuries during the trial. A video dubbed “The EXACT time Dakota Johnson KNEW Amber Heard was VIOLENT towards Johnny Depp” was dug up by internet users.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Dakota said, “I was like, ‘For the love of God, why? Why am I involved in this?’ I don’t remember that, but please, take me out of this. Don’t let this go further. Can you imagine, oh, my God, if I was called to the witness stand? I can’t believe that people are watching [the trial] like it’s a show. It’s like it’s a courtroom drama, and my heart breaks. It’s so, so, so crazy. Humans are so fucking weird. The Internet is a wild, wild place.”
The jury determined that Amber Heard’s 2018 op-ed was defamatory toward Johnny Depp. As a result, Depp was granted USD 10 million in damages at the trial’s conclusion earlier this month.
