Arjun Kapoor responds to the Pathaan controversy, saying, “artists have to do what film demands”

Actor Arjun Kapoor responded to the controversy surrounding the upcoming movie Pathaan after the launch of Besharam Rang, the film’s first song. In a recent interview, Arjun discussed whether these controversies concern him, as he also works in the Hindi film industry. The actor advised against placing “undue importance on things that spark pointless banter and chatter.”

Speaking of artists, he asserted that it is their responsibility to complete the necessary tasks for a film before handing it off to the public for decision-making. He added that in a democracy, people should have faith in the rules and procedures.

In an interview with India Today, Arjun stated, “I think the fact that we are discussing it will give undue advantage to it at this point. We must trust our censor board and the central government as they operate together. I think everybody has a right to an opinion in a democracy, but we, as artists, must do what the film demands and stick to that authenticity. I don’t think we need to get caught up in a question that gives undue importance to things that create unnecessary banter and chatter.”

Arjun further said, “Our job should always be to do what is needed for the film and then give the film to the people who can decide what offends them and what doesn’t. I think we have followed that for a long time. Every film that gets made has to follow a process, and even our film is no exception. We should trust the process and the rules in a democracy.”

Besharam Rang, the first track from Pathaan, faced criticism after its December 12 release. On YouTube, the song has already received 50 million views. Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan are featured in the track, and the stars are dressed in saffron and green attire, which prompted some people to protest.

In addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, John Abraham also appears in the movie. Pathaan, a Siddharth Anand-directed film, is slated for release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on January 25. On Tuesday, the movie’s trailer will be released.

The son of Vishal Bhardwaj, Aasman Bhardwaj, will make his directorial debut with Kuttey, in which Arjun will appear. The film Kuttey will debut on January 13. Tabu, Konkona Sensharma, Radhika Madan and Naseeruddin Shah are also featured in the movie.

Alongside actress Bhumi Pednekar, Arjun co-stars in the thriller The Ladykiller. In addition, he will co-star with Bhumi and Rakul Preet Singh in an unnamed romantic comedy movie.
