Though one of Bollywood’s most adored actors, Akshay Kumar has frequently faced criticism. The actor has been a part of Indian film for many years, and over his career, he has experienced both highs and lows. Akshay is promoting his forthcoming movie Selfiee, where he will star alongside Emraan Hashmi. The movie, which Raj Mehta, the director of Good Newz, is directing, will debut on February 24.
The actor was recently questioned regarding his Canadian citizenship during promotional interviews. This subject has frequently caused discussion among many, even netizens.
When questioned regarding it during a recent interview with Aaj Tak’s Seedhi Baat, he showed his gratitude to India and added that this country means everything to him. However, he said that he has already applied for a new passport, which will be issued once Canada grants him the status of renouncing.
The actor claimed, “India is everything to me… Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything.”
The actor Akshay Kumar stated, “I thought that ‘bhai, my films are not working, and one has to work’. I went there for work. My friend was in Canada, and he said, ‘come here’. I applied, and I got in. I had just two films left for release, and luckily, they both became super hits. My friend said, ‘go back, start working again’. I got some more films, and I kept getting more work. I forgot that I had the passport. I never thought I should change this passport, but now, yes, I have applied to get my passport changed and once I get the renounce status from Canada….”
Following an appearance in an interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2019 before the Lok Sabha elections, Akki’s citizenship as a Canadian was not known.
