Chup: Revenge of the Artist’s producers had a special showing for reviewers and film community members Friday night in Mumbai, and everyone gave the movie a thumbs-up.
The film, directed by R Balki, is a homage to the late actor Guru Dutt and recounts the tumultuous love-hate relationship between directors and reviewers in an unflattering manner. It stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt, and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the critical parts.
Taapsee Pannu, Boney Kapoor, Karan Deol, Anees Bazmee, Neena Gupta, Waheeda Rehman, Saiyami Kher, Mrunal Thakur, Anand L Rai, Shabana Azmi, Anupama Chopra, Komal Nahta, Jaya Bachchan, and more stars attended the special screening.
While interacting with the media, filmmaker Aanand L Rai praised the film and shared a sneak peek into the thriller. He said, “I enjoyed the film. I genuinely enjoyed it. It is a perfect film and a significant film. It is an important film for filmmakers; otherwise, it is entertaining. This movie will clear a lot of things. It is not just about critics and filmmakers; it is an important film to understand this relation between the two.”
Praising the film, actress Neena Gupta said, “I loved the film, I liked it a lot, I loved the concept, as it is I am a huge fan of Guru Dutt, and I was sitting next to Waheeda Rehman Ji during the special screening, so it was out of this world experience.”
Filmmaker Anees Bazmee also hailed the movie; he said, “I liked the film. It is a good movie. I enjoyed it.”
The movie, whose 23rd September 2022 release date has been set, is produced by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Jayantilal Gada, and Gauri Shinde.
