Emmys 2022 nominations for “Squid Game” set a record; it received 14 nominations.

The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were revealed on July 12, and “Squid Game” made history! The popular program got 14 nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards, including one for “The outstanding Drama Series.” Squid Game is now the first non-English language television program ever to be nominated in this category at the Emmy Awards due to its nomination in this category.

Additionally, the actors in the series have won five acting prizes, and they are the first Korean actors in their respective categories. The actor Lee Jung Jae is nominated for “Lead Actor in a Drama Series”. Jung Ho Yeon, meanwhile, has been nominated for “Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.” For “Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,” Park Hae Soo and Oh Young Su were both nominated. Lee Yoo Mi has been nominated for “Guest Actress in a Drama Series.”

Creative of “Squid Game” Hwang Dong Hyuk is currently the first local Korean creator to receive Emmy nominations for drama directing and writing due to his two nominations for “Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series” and “Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.”

This year, ‘Squid Game’ has also received nominations for ‘Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More),’ ‘Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (One Hour),’ ‘Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series,’ ‘Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music,’ ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode,’ and ‘Outstanding Stunt Performance.’

With its ‘Outstanding Drama’ nomination, five acting nominations, two nominations for creator Hwang Dong Hyuk, and six more nominations, ‘Squid Game’ has now received an impressive 14 nominations for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. This year’s ceremony will be telecast on September 22.
