Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming Marathi film De Dhakka 2 is set to release on January 1, 2022. It is the sequel to the family comedy De Dhakka, released about 13 years ago and was a big hit. De Dhakka 2 has the same cast as its prequel: Shivaji Satam, Makarand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav, and Medha Manjrekar.
Mahesh Manjrekar shared the news on the Twitter about the released date of the film. He shared film’s poster and he wrote, “दे धमाल हसवणुकीचा दुसरा डोस, महेश मांजरेकर दिग्दर्शित दे धक्का २ तारीख ठरली!!! १ जानेवारी २०२२ थांबायचं नाय, गड्या थांबायचं नाय घाबरायचं नाय, गड्या घाबरायचं नाय”.
In the poster, we can see the lead stars Shivaji Satam, Makarand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav, and many more in the black car stuck in the middle of the road in London. Two Guards push the vehicle [hence, the title] and, more importantly, the Queen of England walking towards the car.
De Dhakka, the prequel of the film, had a special place in the Marathi audience. It was about the journey of a lower-class family, who was traveling from village to Mumbai by an auto-rickshaw for the dance competition of their daughter. The film showed the problems they faced during their travel to Mumbai and unitedly overcame them all.
Sudesh Manjrekar and Atul Kale helmed de Dhakka, and the sequel will be directed by Sudesh and Mahesh Manjrekar. It is produced under the banner of Ameya Vinod Khopkar Entertainment and Skylink Entertertainment by Yatin Yadav and Swati Khopkar.
