Sharing about his childhood experience at TUDUM, the Netflix Global Fan Event. The filmmaker said, “I remember when I was a four-year-old kid, and my father had taken me to a shoot, and he told you to sit here, and I’ll meet my friends and come. I was in the studio, and it seemed the most comfortable to me. More than a school, a playground, a cousin’s house, or anywhere in the world, I thought this was the most beautiful place in the whole world. I was watching a cabaret being shot, and they kept doing it again and again and again.
He further said, “what I remember most of that evening is when my father told me, sit here and don’t move, and don’t go anywhere. Today when I look back at it and when I realize that 25 years I have been there, for that matter, the whole life after that, I have been dreaming of being here, and I’m glad I’m stuck here and doing what I have to do”.
Talking about the upcoming web series Heeramandi, Bhansali said, “Heeramandi was something that my friend Moin Baig got to me as a 14-page story, 14 years ago. Then finally, when we presented it to Netflix, they loved it. They thought it had great potential to make a mega-series. It is very ambitious; it’s very huge and vast. It tells you the story of courtesans. They kept music, poetry and dance, and the art of living. It shows the politics within the brothels and how to emerge as the winner. It is a difficult one, but I hope we come across with flying colors this time.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave excellent movies like Devdas, Black, Khamoshi, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Padmaavat, and more. He is looking forward to making more memorable films. “All these things I have made. I think nine films I have made & making the 10th one. It’s been 25 years and 25 more to go,” he added.
