Writer Tahira Kashyap, the wife of Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, has announced her Bollywood directorial debut with the film Sharmaji Ki Beti, co-produced by Applause Entertainment and Ellipsis Entertainment. The film is starring Divya Dutta, Sakshi Tanwar and Saiyami Kher.
Tahira Kashyap took Twitter to announce this news. She wrote, “Can’t believe it’s finally happening Gratitude to all those people who are bringing my dream, the story so close to my heart to life. It’s too good to be true but I guess ‘winter always turns to spring’. #sharmajikibeti #skb”, She further adds, “This film has seen me through various states & stages of life but with the support of like-minded people we just didn’t give up!Thanku”.
Sharing her excitement about the film, Tahira Kashyap says, “Sharmaji Ki Beti is like an extension of my personality as it is inspired by various incidents and characters I have met, experienced and observed in real life. It will always hold a very special place in my heart because it’s the first script I ever wrote. I am thrilled that it is coming to life as my directorial debut venture in the feature film space. It is an amalgamation of emotions striking the perfect balance, with a happy, relatable, emotional and inspiring narrative.”
Recently, Tahira directed the short film Quaranteen Crush, part of the Feels Like Ishq anthology on Netflix. She also directed Pinni, a part of one of the seven segments in the anthology film Zindagi inShort.
