In the first teaser for Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro appear together on screen for the first time in thirty years. Jesse Plemons and Lily Gladstone join the two Hollywood stars in this serial murder investigation set in 1920s America. The movie will premiere internationally on May 20, 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. In October 2023, it will be screened in US theatres before being aired on Apple TV+ later this year.
The first teaser for the movie was posted on Twitter by the leading actor before its Cannes premiere. Leonardo stated, “#KillersOfTheFlowerMoon will exclusively be in theatres from @ParamountMovies & @AppleFilms this October. It’s a project I am proud of & I cannot wait to share it with you all. @lily_gladstone @johnlithgow.”
Based on a real-life incident, the teaser centres on a series of murders of Osage Nation members in 1920s Oklahoma when oil was found on their lands. The recently created Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducts investigations. The three main characters in the dramatic trailer are Leonardo, Robert and Lily. The trailer also features Brendan Fraser, the most recent Oscar winner.
In the movie, Robert De Niro and Leonardo portray their uncle and nephew. Previously, they collaborated on the 1993 movie This Boy’s Life. When Lily’s character, Leonardo, marries an Indigenous woman, the rest of the village mistreats her. The FBI agent looking into the cast is Jesse.
