Actor Adah Sharma’s starrer The Kerala Story has stirred the pot for the worse. The film claims that around 32,000 women have gone missing from Kerala after being brainwashed, converted and sent for terror missions in India and abroad.
IUML’s youth branch, the Muslim Youth League, the second-largest member of the Congress-led UDF, announced after the trailer’s publication that they would provide Rs 1 crore if the filmmakers could show the movie’s plot was true.
Shashi Tharoor, MP for Thiruvananthapuram, took to his social media and tweeted, “Now there’s an opportunity for all those hyping the alleged conversions of 32,000 women in Kerala to Islamism — to prove their case and make some money. Will they be up to the challenge, or is there simply no proof because none exists? #NotOurKeralaStory”
The Kashmir Files director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri tweeted, “Dear Mr. @ShashiTharoor & Company If you attack a film without seeing it, you are neither an honest & fair person nor a free speech & democratic person. #TheKeralaStory”
Sudipto Sen is the director of the movie. It follows the ascent of four Keralan college women who join the Islamic State. Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani are also featured in the movie. Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is behind it.
